Live with heart.
Sigma Kappa sisters make a bold commitment every day: we live with heart. To us, this means committing ourselves to one another, the causes we believe in, and a shared dedication to seeking intellectual, spiritual, and social enlightenment throughout our lives.
We are devoted to embodying the values of Sigma Kappa in everything we do. Our promise to exemplify personal growth, service, friendship, and loyalty is what makes Sigma Kappa stand apart. Living with heart makes us more compassionate individuals, leading purposeful lives rooted in a strong sense of character and values, which ultimately makes us who we are.
For 141 years, Sigma Kappa Sorority has been uniting women in lifelong friendship. In 1874, our Founders sought to create a sisterhood that would encourage a woman’s heart, mind and spirit while giving her skills to positively impact her community. The New York City Sigma Kappa Alumnae Chapter is here to offer a supportive environment to enhance character and achieve excellence.

History in the Making.

Since the leadership of the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) is determined through a rotation process, and there are 26 member groups of NPC, leadership of the NPC comes about every 50 years. Only two Sigma Kappa alumnae have served as chairman of NPC since 1905; Ethel Hayward Weston, Alpha, 1919-1921 and Ruth Rysdon Miller, Theta, 1965-1967. The journey that Donna King is about to embark on, together with Sigma Kappa, is truly history in the making.
For the first time in 50 years, Sigma Kappa once again entered leadership rotation for NPC, serving as vice chairman from 2013-2015 and chairman from 2015-2017. Donna Crain King, Epsilon Rho, Eastern Washington University, will serve in these exciting roles.
In addition, as Sigma Kappa's delegate serves as NPC vice chairman, our national president serves as secretary of the international presidents committee. When our delegate steps into the NPC chairman role, our national president will chair the international presidents committee.
