Sigma Kappa Foundation
For more than 50 years, the Sigma Kappa Foundation has supported Sigma Kappa Sorority. Our Foundation plays a crucial role in the growth and success of Sigma Kappa, providing the lifeblood of financial resources to keep our Sorority vital and healthy.
The mission of the Sigma Kappa Foundation is to create and fund leadership, scholarship and philanthropic initiatives that reflect the values and spirit of Sigma Kappa Sorority.
Chapters support the Foundation’s funding priorities through the Ultra Violet Campaign, a fundraising event concept that provides Sigma Kappa’s collegiate and alumnae chapters with effective and engaging opportunities to raise funds and awareness for Sigma Kappa’s philanthropic priorities. This year, we will be holding an Ultra Violet Wine and Paint Night at the Paint and Sip Studio on the Upper West Side on March 28 from 7-9pm! Tickets are $50 and will include all materials, entry to a raffle, and light snacks/refreshments. (This event is BYOB.) A portion of the proceeds will go to the Sigma Kappa Foundation.

Inherit the Earth
Sigma Kappa is committed to improving the environment. Improvements can happen every day through purposeful actions and choices that, collectively, make a significant impact on the overall health of our planet. This national service project provides the opportunity for collegians, alumnae, and citizens to work together to improve local environments.
Our chapter participates in multiple events throughout the year to inherit the earth. One of our favorite events is Earth Day clean-up in Manhattan! It's a great feeling to clean up and beautify our city.
Maine Seacoast Mission
The 1918 convention chose the Maine Seacoast Mission as Sigma Kappa Sorority’s first national philanthropy in honor of Sigma Kappa’s founding in Maine. Through annual contributions from Sigma Kappa chapters and members, the Sigma Kappa Foundation provides funds to the Maine Seacoast Mission in support for the mission’s urgent needs.

Our chapter hosts an annual gift card drive for the Maine Seacoast Mission to support families in the region. We hold this event annually around the holiday season.
Alzheimer’s disease
Alzheimer’s disease is a growing epidemic with someone in the United States developing it every 66 seconds and is the nation’s sixth-leading cause of death. This is why Sigma Kappa is committed to putting an end to Alzheimer’s by creating a major funding stream to the national Alzheimer’s Association for research to find a cure.
Through Alzheimer’s disease and gerontology-related research grants from the Sigma Kappa Foundation, Sigma Kappa has become one of the nation’s leading private contributors to Alzheimer’s disease prevention, research and treatment efforts. Since 1989, the Sigma Kappa Foundation has granted more than $3 million in research grants including the lead gift of $1 million for the Women's Alzheimer’s Research Initiative. The gift funds clinical research focused on women, as well as studies led by female researchers who are working to advance Alzheimer's and dementia science.

Gerontology
In 1954, Sigma Kappa became the first sorority to recognize the need for continued comprehensive work on the study of aging and the needs of the elderly population; Sigma Kappa added an emphasis on Alzheimer’s disease to its gerontology program in 1984. Members provide service and companionship to the elderly in their local communities as part of Sigma Kappa’s philanthropic interest in gerontology.
For our most recent gerontology event, we crafted Valentine's Day cards for the residents at the DOROT Foundation at 125 W 85th Street.
Walk to End Alzheimer’s™
Sigma Kappa members are encouraged to participate in the Alzheimer’s Association annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s™. The Sigma Kappa Foundation participates as national platinum level team with a goal of raising $500,000 annually.
